Popular Menu Items

Cowboy Chicken is famous for their fire-cooked chicken, it’s true, but it doesn’t even begin to touch the selection of foods you’ll find when you drop in. They’ve expanded their menu beyond rotisserie cooked chicken to include an amazing range of enchiladas that come wrapped in corn tortilla’s and served with their specialty sauce made with tomatillos and sour cream.

Hankerin’ for a sandwich cowboy? You can try their BBQ chicken sandwich that’s made with their rotisserie chicken, pulled and drenched in barbecue sauce and served on a warm bun, toasted and topped with melted cheese. They’ve got a great selection of sides too, including Chicken Tortilla Soup, Creamed spinach, Spanish Rice, Sweet Corn, and much much more.

Don’t worry if you’re struggling to make a choice; we’ve got their most popular items listed below:

Twice Baked Potaters

Only one thing that can make a baked potato better, and that’s mixing in all your favorite ingredients, and sticking it back in to cook again. A way of heating up a cold baked potato, it’s now become a cuisine all its own mixed with chives, bacon, butter, and sour cream mashed and cooked in its skin.

Farmhouse Salad

There’s nothing that goes with a meal quite like a delicious salad, and Cowboy Chicken believes every meal should start that way. Of course, sometimes it is the meal, and that’s the case with this salad. Mixed with frosted pecans, red apples, dried cranberries, rotisserie chicken, blue cheese all over chopped greens with rotisserie chicken, it’s an incredible dish, especially doused with their blush wine vinaigrette.

Cowboy Chicken’s History

Sometimes what you’re doing isn’t what you were born to do, and it was a day in 1981 that made Phil Sanders realize that textile sales weren’t what he was born to do. Perhaps it was a name shared with a particular Colonel of Kentucky fame that made him realize his true calling came in the creation of some of the nations most delicious franchise chicken, or maybe it was the love of Westerns that led to it being called “Cowboy Chicken.” Whatever the cause, Phil Sanders would go on to create a restaurant with his wife Jeanette that would bring their unique version of wood-fired rotisserie chicken to Dallas.

Cowboy Chicken can now be found at multiple locations all over the country, and they all still adhere to that one central tenet, that all their chicken will be rotisserie cooked over a natural wood fire.
