Soft Shell Crab
This elegant starter is beautiful as well as delicious. A lightly battered soft shell blue crab is fried and served hot and crisp with ponzu sauce. This is a romantic starter option. $8.95.
Tokyo Jidori Chicken Salad
This salad is fit for a King. Free range chicken is marinated and then grilled. It joins hazelnuts, walnuts, pine nuts, tomatoes, and crispy parmesan chips atop romaine hearts. The dressing is a special house made Japanese take on Caesar dressing. $11.95.
Geisha Roll
A customer favorite from the Kabuki sushi menu is the Geisha Roll which includes salmon and tuna wrapped with Japanese mint and cucumber in a soy paper roll. $12.95.
Miso Marinated Black Cod
This entrée is a very special dish. Black cod fish is first marinated in a special miso and then pan-fried to perfection. It comes with sweet corn and asparagus for $19.95.
BBQ Beef Ribs with Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura
Many first time visitors will appreciate this very tasty and hearty meal. The Asian style BBQ with hints of soy and ginger will surprise your taste buds. The tempura will come fresh, hot, light and crunchy. $18.95.
Kabuki’s History
The first Kabuki Japanese Restaurant was opened in 1991 by David Lee in Pasadena, California. He had come to America from South Korea in the early 80’s to study engineering. The first restaurant was upscale and focused on Sushi long before sushi enjoyed the popularity it does today. The business had a troubled start. One night he even operated the restaurant by candlelight when the power was shut off because Lee had no money to pay the electric bill.
After the L.A. riots, facing the possible failure of the business, Lee made a critical decision to scale down the ambiance and lower prices to reach more consumers. It worked. Over the years the restaurant has evolved to find a profitable line between introducing customers to sophisticated Japanese cuisine with the help of Master Chefs and Sake Sommeliers but an overall presentation that is accessible to a larger customer base, arguably helping to drive the American palate for sushi and other Japanese foods.
As of 2016 there are 17 locations operating in Nevada, Arizona and California.
