Popular Menu Items
Krystal serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The breakfast menu features a full line of breakfast sandwiches, breakfast scramblers served in a bowl, as well as more traditional breakfast platters.
For lunch and dinner you will find a host of fast food favorites cooked up with a special Krystal flare. Small burgers, chicken sandwiches and hot dogs make up the core of the regular menu. You can also find salads, chili and creative sides if you are looking for some variety.
Here are a few fan favorites from the menu:
Low Carb Scrambler Bowl
If you are on a restricted carb diet, this breakfast item on the menu at Krystal is a great choice to start your day. It features a heaping pile of scrambled eggs topped with melted American cheese and crispy bacon.
Original Krystal Burger
This is the burger that put Krystal on the map. If you have not had one yet, this is a must try. A thin patty of 100% beef is grilled and topped with diced onion, yellow mustard and dill pickles. The bun is steamed so it is like a small bread cloud surrounding the patty. They are small like sliders, and many folks get them by the pack to share.
Like the Krystal burger, the Chik packs a ton of flavor into a small sandwich. A small breast of chicken is lightly coated in a perfectly seasoned batter and fried to perfection. It is served on Krystal’s famous steamed buns, and finished with dill pickles and mayo. Get a combo with 3 Chiks, a medium side and a drink.
Looking for a fun snack to get you through the afternoon? Try this old-time favorite with a little bit of yellow mustard. A hot dog is skewered on a stick, dipped in a cornbread batter and fried to golden brown. You will be back for more!
Chili Cheese Fries
It is time to indulge with these tasty golden french fries smothered in meaty chili and topped with shredded cheddar cheese. You can ask for some diced fresh onions too if that is your thing. You will need to grab a fork to get through this messy concoction, but it’s totally worth it!
The first Krystal opened in Chattanooga, Tennessee during the great depression. It was 1932 and founders Rody Davenport Jr. and J. Glenn Sherrill focused good service, a spotless restaurant, and low prices in order to stay competitive during tough times. The formula worked.
Not only was the counter service a hit, stuffing the small burgers into paper bags for people to take home was an innovative idea to deal with the popularity of the small grilled burgers which had outstripped the space in the restaurant. They added a drive through to the growing chain in the 1950’s. Expansion was mainly in the South at first where the bulk of Krystal locations remain.
