Moe’s Southwest Grill History
Raving Brands opened the first Moe’s in Atlanta, Georgia in 2000. The chain was sold to Focus Brands in 2007. The original name was not after a person, but rather an acronym for Musicians, Outlaws and Entertainers which reflected the music centered décor incorporated into the design concept of the chain.
Moe’s is widely represented across the United States with over 600 locations across 38 states as of 2016. It received the award for being #1 in its category by Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500 in 2010. The 2016 Harris Poll EquiTrend Survey listed Moe’s as the “Fast Casual Mexican Restaurant of the Year.”
