Popular Menu Items

Tea lovers will appreciate that tea does not take a back seat to coffee at Peet’s café. With many specialty tea based drinks, both hot and cold, there is plenty to choose from if the leaf is your thing.

If you prefer the bean, you will not be disappointed either. Unique flavor combinations, quality ingredients, fresh roasted beans, and expert preparation all come together to make one fine cup of Joe.

Here are some customer favorites:

Iced Vanilla Latte

Peet’s uses Madagascar Vanilla to make this cold and refreshing drink. It is finished with cool fresh milk and a foam topper made just for you. Go for the large 20 Oz. for $4.75.

The Black Tie

This original drink will have you coming back again and again. Cold Brew iced coffee is blended with the flavors of chicory and topped off with sweetened condensed milk and a drizzle of half and half for a rich and complex flavor. $3.25 for a 12 Oz. small.

Café au Lait

The classic French way to enjoy a good cup of coffee. Steamed milk is added to a fresh cup of coffee and topped with foam for a simple combination that highlights the flavors of perfectly roasted coffee. Have a large 20 Oz. for just $3.10.

Matcha Green Tea Latte

Tea lovers will appreciate the luxurious addition of steamed milk to this authentic Japanese leaf tea. Vanilla and seasonal flavorings are optional add-ins. A medium is 16 Oz. for $4.15.

Mighty Leaf Mango Sunrise Iced Tea Infusion

If you are a big iced tea fan, this is a great drink to try from the Peet’s menu. It is made with black tea with all natural mango syrup for sweetness and a splash of lemonade for that citrus finish. Go for the large at $3.85.

Peet’s Coffee & Tea History

The first location of Peet’s Coffee & Tea was located in Berkeley, California. Founder Alfred Peet opened the café in 1966 and is largely credited for introducing the richer flavors of Arabica beans used for espresso and French roasted coffees to the San Francisco Bay Area, and later the country more broadly speaking.

Sal Bonavita bought the chain in 1979 and in 1984 the four locations that were still in the Bay Area were sold to the owners of Starbucks. In 2001 Peet’s went public, and in 2007 Peet’s opened its own roasting plant in Alameda, California. Peet’s was bought by JAB Holding in 2012 and has been expanding through acquisition of other chains such as Caribou Coffee and Mighty Leaf Tea ever since.

Fun Fact: All three of the original founders of Starbucks knew Peet and, in fact, the first year of Starbuck’s operation was dependent on beans purchased from Peet’s.
