Popular Menu Items
Cracker Barrel features two separate menus. One is just for breakfast, the other is for lunch and dinner. Don’t worry, the breakfast menu is available all day long. You can have your eggs with a heaping portion of Country Fried Steak smothered in Sawmill Gravy for dinner if you like.
While best known for their breakfast menu, the lunch and dinner menu features plenty of homestyle favorites. The Fancy Fixin’s portion of the menu has classics like meatloaf, roast beef, and fried catfish all served with generous portions of your favorite down-home side dishes.
The Wholesome Fixin’s part of the menu is where you want to look for lighter fare such as Southern Trout or Caesar Salad with Southern Grilled Chicken. There is also a separate kids menu with child friendly portions. Deserts like Baked Apple Dumplin or the Frozen Mug Sundaes are worth saving some room for.

Momma’s Pancake Breakfast
This meal comes with three Buttermilk Pancakes, two eggs and a choice of the many breakfast meats on offer. Pancakes come in buttermilk, pecan, or blueberry. Plus, this meal comes with the fruit topping of your choice. If you can’t decide between sweet and savory, this is a great choice for $7.99.
Country Dinner Plates
Offering you a lot of choice, this favorite lets you pick a main dish, two sides and biscuits or corn muffins baked fresh on the premises. Try the Homemade Chicken n’ Dumplins or the Lemon Pepper Grilled Rainbow Trout. There are tons of delicious specialty sides to choose from, although many come for the Fried Apples or Turnip Greens because they are hard to find anywhere else. Only $7.69.
Cracker Barrel’s History
In 1969 the first Cracker Barrel restaurant was opened by Dan Evins in the small town of Lebanon, Tennessee. The restaurant, now the corporate headquarters of the chain, was right off of Interstate 40 and regularly received traffic from travelers between Nashville and Knoxville. Evins wanted to design a place where travelers would feel comfortable and at home and he modeled his restaurant and store after the old country stores of his youth.
The restaurant became a very popular destination along I-40 and by 1977, along with the help of several investors, the chain had grown to 13 locations in the Southeast. Cracker Barrel went public in 1981 and by 1996 there were 257 locations. Today the chain boasts over 600 locations in 42 different states.
The main advertising platform for the first forty years of operation were the billboards that have become the familiar icon of the brand. Not until 2015 did the company start using television, radio and online advertising platforms such as social media in marketing efforts.
