Cinnabon’s History
In the SeaTac Mall in Federal Way in 1985, it was the cusp of a new year when the first Cinnabon opened on December 4th. Created by two men who loved cinnamon rolls, Rich Komen and Ray Lindstrom, they set out to create a place to find the worlds best cinnamon roll. In their journey they decided to enlist the talents of Jerilyn Brusseau due to her baking fame in the local Seattle area.
They started out with an ambition spelled out across their signs that read “World Famous Cinnamon Rolls”, and while there was no truth to it when the first kiosk opened, they’ve certainly made it a reality now, 33 years later. Now Cinnabons can be found in malls, on street corners, and in amusement parks all over the world, as well as in their own stand-alone buildings.
