Ruby Tuesday’s History:
Samuel T. Beall, III opened the first Ruby Tuesday restaurant in 1972 beside the University of Tennessee. After expanding the restaurant to 16 locations, Beal sold the chain to Morrison Inc. in 1982 and Beall remained on as president of the Specialty Restaurant Division, later renamed the Ruby Tuesday Group.
Beall became CEO of Ruby Tuesday Inc. in 1992 and stepped down in 2012 after leading the expansion of the chain both through franchising and company owned locations. Ruby Tuesday’s is concentrated more on the East Coast of the United States, however, by 2015 they had nearly 800 locations in 45 states as well as 12 international locations.
