Popular Menu Items

Pollo Tropical is most well-known for its grilled and marinated chicken, which celebrates Caribbean flavors. Tradition Caribbean cuisine features rice, beans chickpeas, chicken, and spices and herbs like cilantro, garlic, marjoram, and scotch bonnet peppers for a kick.

The first thing that stands out on the Pollo Tropical menu are the platters. Each platter is served with chicken, pork, or ribs and comes with your choice of sides. These are a great way to try out Pollo Tropical’s recipes and experience the flavors of the Caribbean.

They also serve family meals, which can feed up to four people. Each meal comes with a whole chicken and then your choice of sides. You can always add more proteins, such as pork or ribs, and you can even order some of their sauces to spice things up.

Pollo Tropical offers a ton of sides that can complement any meal and they also have wraps and sandwiches available.

Here are some suggestions for ordering:

TropiChops

This is an option that serves everything in one big bowl. It’s a great way to eat all of the Caribbean goodness. You get to choose from marinated chicken, Mojo (a traditional spicy marinade) pork, or veggies. Then, you pick rice or lettuce as a base and top it all off with your choice of salsa, curry mustard, guava BBQ, Pollo Tropical Hot Sauce, regular BBQ, or spicy poyo poyo sauce for a complete meal.

Guava BBQ Ribs

Ribs are great anytime, and Pollo Tropical celebrates this calssic dish with a guava BBQ marinade slathered on a half rack of fall-off-the-bone ribs. You can choose two of their many sides, including black beans and rice, macaroni and cheese, or mashed potatoes.

Fried Yuca

If you want to try a different type of side, fried yuca might interest you. Yuca resembles a potato in texture, but Pollo Tropical gives it a “tropical kick.” It’s a great alternative to fries and tastes great when it’s dipped in garlic sauce.

Chicken Quesadilla Salad

If you’re just in the mood for a salad, the Chicken Quesadilla allows you taste the full flavor of Pollo Tropical’s famous chicken while satisfying your veggie cravings as well. It’s topped with black beans, shredded cheese, and tortilla chips and it’s served with two cheese-filled tortillas.

Pollo Tropical’s History

Brothers Larry and Stuart Harris opened the first Pollo Tropical in Miami, Florida, in 1988. The restaurant has since been remodeled but still stands in its original location.

Today the restaurant has expanded, especially in the southeast. The Pollo Tropical mission to its customers is to “prove that life is better under the palm,” by serving hormone-free food in a fun, relaxing atmosphere.
