Portillo’s is an American restaurant chain that specializes in Chicago style foods such as hot dogs, Italian beef, burgers, pasta, ribs, and more. The majority of the restaurants are in Illinois but have also expanded throughout the country to various states.
Portillo’s also caters and will even ship their food to your door. They also offer shakes and malts, desserts, and their signature tamales. They currently don’t serve breakfast at any of the locations but the demand could be high for those who are looking for a meat based breakfast from one of their favorite restaurants.
Portillo’s Breakfast Hours & Days
- Monday – Saturday: 7 AM – 10:30 AM
- Sunday: 9 AM – 12 PM
*These are potential hours for the stores to expand to in order to serve breakfast as they currently don’t serve breakfast and open at 10:30 AM.
Portillo’s Breakfast Menu Items
Although Portillo’s does not offer a breakfast menu, it has huge potential if a morning meal was added. The types of plates that they serve like ribs, sandwiches, and other hearty cuisine would be complimented by a few breakfast items in the morning.
Some of the morning dishes that have big possibilities would be breakfast tamales, various biscuit plates, and breakfast croissants; including a side of hashbrowns, toast, or fruit. An added morning schedule of Monday – Saturday from 7:00 AM – 10:30 AM and Sunday from 9 AM to 12 pm could bring in a breakfast crowd.

Portillo’s Most Popular Breakfast Foods
Chicken in a Biscuit: Portillo’s standard menu has a lot of sandwiches with chicken and other meats so a homemade oversized biscuit with a piece of crispy chicken sandwiched in between it would be an excellent breakfast menu item.
Breakfast Tamales: Because Portillo’s already serves tamales on their menu, creating a breakfast version would fit in well with their meat dishes. A combination of eggs, beef, and chiles would be a delicious start to the morning.
Biscuits and Gravy: This is a signature breakfast item at diners and chains similar to Portillo’s so it would most likely be a popular breakfast plate at all of their restaurants.
Breakfast Croissant: Portillo’s already offers a meat sandwich on a croissant so a breakfast version would be a great breakfast item. This would include egg, cheese, and choice of bacon, sausage, or ham.
Breakfast Biscuit Sandwich: Just like the croissant sandwich, another option on the breakfast menu could include a biscuit with egg, cheese, and choice of bacon, sausage, or ham.
